The Texas Tapes are previously unreleased 4-track recordings from 1993-1997. These sounds were bathing in dust in the archives for many years. After picking up another 4-track in 2021, after not having one for years, I started going through tapes and finding sounds that inspired me to get them off tape and into the computer. These recordings are mainly guitar loops and field recordings made during my time in Austin, Texas. The tools at that time were a Tascam 424, Fender Mustang, Digitech PDS 1002 delay looper pedal, a very hissy Alesis Midiverb, Alesis HR-16, and a half broken Ensoniq EPS sampler.

Originally on “In The Fields Of Nothing” LP on @kompaktrecords – This version was recorded at the @latebreakfastla “Further Translations” record release show at @2220arts last November. Backing me up that evening on additional guitar and violin was Dain & Julie of @lessbellsmusic. I really like this version as it’s a little darker and far more deranged.
It’s on the streamers now & It’s a free download or “pay what you want” on Bandcamp. Enjoy the sounds!
In support of my new album, @xlr8r_official asked me to do a mix & interview for their podcast series and I was happy to indulge! I wanted to take you folks on a little journey through some of my favorite sounds new and old in the world of ambient, jazz, space rock, and so on. I hope you enjoy the trek.

Murals For Immersion (Dismantled Mix) is out today. This is a different more stripped down take on the original. It’s on the streamers and now included on the Murals album on Bandcamp.

I had a fun discussion with the one and only Mike Watt yesterday on his @wattfrompedro podcast. It was a real pleasure especially since fIREHOSE was one of my favorite bands as a skate punk kid growing up in Texas! We go way back on this one… Ever heard my first band 7th Floor from 1989? Nope – and you never will. Ha! But we talk about it. We also discuss and play music from my latest ambient collaboration with Paul Carman “Murals For Immersion” as well as Toler Gibson, Head Shoppe, Francesca Brown, Furry Things, and more.

Head Shoppe’s self-titled LP is out now via Meadows Heavy Recorders!
“Head Shoppe balance the supernatural with inviting pastoral psych on an occult LP of organic, spiritual simplified escapism” – Monolith Cocktail
